About the Project
To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, Business Insurance commissioned Insuring America, a five-part documentary series exploring the evolution of the American insurance industry over the past 250 years.
Through interviews with industry leaders, CEOs, academics, and historians, the series tells the story of how insurance has evolved alongside the nation—highlighting the people, events, and innovations that helped shape one of America’s most influential industries.
Rome Design Agency developed the project’s visual identity across digital platforms, producing the documentary trailer, publisher introduction, episodes, episode teasers, motion graphics, title animations, lower thirds, and promotional assets. Alongside the video production, we designed the campaign landing page and supported the LinkedIn launch strategy to maximize audience engagement and drive viewers to the full documentary series.
The Challenge
Although Insuring America was built around interviews with insurance executives, historians, and academics, the challenge was to transform hours of conversation into a compelling documentary experience.
Working within an established Business Insurance brand, we needed to balance a polished corporate aesthetic with engaging visual storytelling. Historical topics, abstract insurance concepts, and long-form interviews had to be translated into dynamic visuals that would keep viewers engaged throughout each 15-minute episode.
With a tight production timeline, our team combined archival research, AI-generated B-roll, motion graphics, and carefully paced editing to create a documentary series that remained informative, visually rich, and accessible to a professional audience.
Our Creative Approach
Creative Direction
Working alongside the Business Insurance art director, we expanded the existing visual identity into a cohesive documentary experience. Every design decision—from typography and graphics to pacing and composition—was guided by the goal of maintaining Business Insurance’s trusted editorial voice while creating a visually engaging viewing experience.
Motion Design
We designed elegant title sequences, lower thirds, transitions, and subtle motion graphics that complemented the storytelling without distracting from the interviews. Historical imagery was enhanced through light animation and custom graphic treatments, helping bring key moments in American insurance history to life.
Video Production
Our post-production process focused on transforming raw interview footage into a polished documentary series. We handled editing, color correction, audio cleanup, subtitles, multicamera synchronization, and pacing, integrating archival material and AI-generated B-roll to illustrate historical events and simplify complex insurance concepts.
Social Campaign
To support the documentary launch, we developed a complete set of promotional assets, including a sponsor trailer, episode highlights, LinkedIn graphics, sponsored advertisements, and static social content. Each asset was designed to generate interest, drive traffic to the landing page, and encourage viewers to watch the full episodes and join the campaign. The campaign generated more than 3.1 million impressions, reached over 1.8 million people, and delivered more than 1.1 million video views across its promotional initiatives.
Visual Language
The visual language combined Business Insurance’s established corporate identity with a cinematic editorial style. Patriotic color accents, archival photography, AI-generated historical B-roll, and understated motion graphics created a consistent aesthetic that respected the subject matter while making centuries of insurance history feel engaging and relevant to today’s audience.
